MageSentinel

Synthetic monitoring built for Magento 2, not adapted to it

Search for Magento synthetic monitoring and you find general-purpose platforms and guides on writing your own Playwright script for a Magento checkout. The monitoring is generic; the Magento part is homework. MageSentinel starts from the other end: it was built for the Magento 2 checkout first.

What generic tools leave to you

A general synthetic monitoring platform runs whatever browser script you give it. For Magento that script has to find a salable product, handle configurable options, wait for Knockout or Hyvä components, fill a shipping address that the store accepts, pick a shipping method, reach a payment method and decide what to do about placing the order. Then it has to keep working through theme updates, extension updates and Magento patches.

Most published guides stop before order placement, because a script that completes checkout creates a real order someone has to clean up. That leaves the last and most expensive step untested.

What built for Magento means

MageSentinel resolves each checkout step across Luma, Hyvä Checkout and common one-step checkout extensions without theme-specific configuration. A Hyvä theme that falls back to the Luma checkout is a different path, and it is handled as one. See Hyvä checkout monitoring.

It reads the Magento REST calls the checkout makes, such as /rest/<store>/V1/guest-carts/<id>/payment-information, so a failure is tied to the request that broke, not only to a screenshot. On plans with test orders it places a real order, confirms it in the Magento admin and cancels it.

The optional Magento connector module (composer require magesentinel/module-monitor) adds store-side diagnostics: Magento version, active modules and recent errors, so "checkout is broken" becomes "checkout is broken because of this".

What a failure looks like

Each failure maps to a named failure code such as SHIPPING, PAYMENT or PLACE_ORDER_FAILED, with the step, the likely cause, a screenshot and the network log. One incident opens per problem; recovery closes it.

Also WooCommerce

The same engine covers WooCommerce classic and block checkouts, so agencies with both platforms use one dashboard. Pricing is per store: Solo €7.90 a month for one store, Starter €39 for five, Agency €149 for twenty, each with a 14-day free trial and no card.

Run the free Magento checkout test on your store: it walks the checkout in a real browser, Luma or Hyvä, and shows the step where it stops.

Common questions

Is there synthetic monitoring made specifically for Magento?

Yes. MageSentinel is built around the Magento 2 checkout (Luma, Hyvä and one-step checkouts) instead of asking you to script it in a generic tool.

Can synthetic monitoring place real Magento test orders?

MageSentinel can, on plans with test orders: it places the order, confirms it in the Magento admin and cancels it.

Do I need to install a Magento extension?

No. Checks run from outside the store. The optional connector module adds store-side diagnostics.
