Magento 2 checkout monitoring that buys like a customer
Across 98,000 test purchases on 135 stores, 77% of checkout incidents happened while the site was up, and the median one lasted 35 minutes. MageSentinel opens your Magento store in a real browser on a schedule, adds a product to the cart and walks the checkout through shipping and payment. When a step fails, you get the step, a screenshot and the console errors.
The whole purchase, in a real browser
- Product page, add to cart, cart, checkout, shipping and payment
- Luma, Hyvä Checkout and one-step checkouts
- Nothing to install on the store to start
Optional: a real order
- Stops at the payment step by default
- On paid plans you can let it place a real order, then it cancels the order where the store allows it
- Proves the whole path, including Place Order and the return to the store
Alerts with evidence
- Email, Slack, Teams or webhook
- A failure is re-checked once before anyone is alerted
- Each alert names the failing step and links the screenshot, console log and trace
As often as the store needs
- Every 30 minutes on Solo and Starter, every 15 on Agency, every 5 on Scale
- From €19 a month for one store
- 14-day trial, no card required
Set it up in a few minutes
- 1Add the storePaste the store address. MageSentinel detects Magento and whether the theme is Luma or Hyvä.
- 2Pick a test productA cheap, simple product that is always in stock. It can be hidden from the catalog.
- 3Choose where alerts goA Slack channel or an inbox someone reads, and how often the check runs.
What breaks a Magento checkout while the site stays up
- A deploy or setup:upgrade that leaves a checkout JavaScript error, so Place Order does nothing
- An extension update that changes the shipping or payment step of Hyvä or a one-step checkout
- A payment module that stops rendering after its own update or an expired API key
- Full page cache or a CDN rule that caches the cart or blocks the checkout requests
- Cron or indexers that stop, so prices, stock or shipping rates go stale
Free Magento module for the inside view
An APM tool such as New Relic or Datadog tells you how fast the server answers. It does not tell you that a customer can finish a purchase. The free MageSentinel Monitor module adds what a browser cannot see from outside: a Store health page in the admin with cron, indexers, caches, pending payment orders, payment and shipping methods enabled, card-skimmer loaders in CMS blocks and PHP files in pub/media, with an email when a check turns red. It works on its own or connected to your MageSentinel account.
01What is Magento checkout monitoring?
A scheduled test that opens a product, adds it to the cart and goes through the Magento 2 checkout like a customer, and alerts you when a step fails.
02Why is APM or uptime monitoring not enough?
Both measure the server. A checkout breaks in the browser: a JavaScript error after a deploy, a payment form that does not render, a shipping list that never loads. Every page still answers 200, so only a test that walks the purchase in a real browser sees it.
03Does it work with Hyvä Checkout and one-step checkouts?
Yes. It detects whether the store runs Luma or Hyvä and handles one-step checkouts as well as the default two-step Magento checkout.
04Does it place real orders?
Not by default. The check stops at the payment step. On paid plans you can turn on order placement; the check then places the order and cancels it where the store allows it.
05How often does it check?
Every 30 minutes on Solo and Starter, every 15 minutes on Agency and every 5 minutes on Scale.
